Παρά τα όποια δεινά που αμαύρωσαν την είσοδό μας στην δεύτερη δεκαετία του 21ου αιώνα, ορισμένες συνήθειες δύσκολα αποχωρίζονται. Έτσι λοιπόν και φέτος, παρόλο που οι ταινίες που είχαν αντίκτυπο στους θεατές και του κριτές ήταν μετρημένες στα δάκτυλα, θα λάβει τόπο η 93η απονομή των Oscar, σε μία σιωπηλή και φειδωλή (ως προς τους καλεσμένους) τελετή στις 23 Απριλίου.
Βέβαια πολλές από τις προγραμματισμένες ταινίες έλαβαν την μία αναβολή πίσω από την άλλη, με αποτέλεσμα να έχουμε τελικά ένα εντελώς διαφορετικό πλάνο σε σχέση με αυτό που όλοι υπολογίζαμε. Ο λόγος γίνεται για το Dune, το No Time to Die αλλά και πολλές ακόμα ταινίες που δεν είχαμε την τύχη να παρακολουθήσουμε φέτος.
Στην κορυφή των υποψηφιοτήτων βρίσκεται το Mank του David Fincher όπου συγκεντρώνει δέκα υποψηφιότητες, ενώ πίσω ακολουθούν τα The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal και The Trial of the Chicago 7 με έξι υποψηφιότητες το καθένα.
